Seriously though, this crazy psu admissions process of random notice of decisions and missed deadlines again this year (not first time just worse)
really does highlight the importance of applying to several schools that are equally possible to attend
I would be freaking out at this point if my d wasn’t already accepted at now 7 other schools out of the 8 we applied to last August
Still hoping but not desperate, we are blessed with great options

State college? It’s 90 min away, is admissions going to be open today?
I am really hoping that tonight will be an update since that’s what I was told when i called Friday
Admissions counselor on phone said Monday, apologized for delay and said surprising no decision. Ugh
Monday which I take as midnight ?
Email later on Friday said by end of week but it was genetically worded

ziveli513 very surprised no news yet, but sounds like your d has some awesome choices already! We have kids at our school who got accepted by Penn State University Park but require semester grades for Pitt and kids who got into Pitt but are still waiting to hear from Penn State. For us, and having done this college thing x4; it proves very interesting for sure to see the differences in the application process among various colleges from year to year and within the same college based on the year of the application.

And yes very blessed to have choices. I keep mentioning the other admits to emphasize how weird and puzzling and just disappointing it is to me that my d doesn’t have a decision yet from psu . Not to brag ! Waiting on psu since 8/15 after all, 12/22 mass deferral for high volume and now no decision as promised 1/31
Admissions confirmed fri no problem with my d application, surprised no decision she said
That has to be unusual compared to other colleges
but I bet many who aren’t here on cc are in same boat with psu
And the January wait list, telling students majors filling up but then posts show lower stats same major getting decisions
People getting 2nd decisions while others not first yet
Just not encouraging as to psu admin
Snow is coming, but campus and our lovely admissions office are still open. More concerned about a potential closure for tomorrow as we are expecting 4 to 8 inches plus ice. Not looking good.

@ziveli513 @MyaCocoa … another day approaching midnight. Crossing fingers for your kids… want to let you know that there is a Facebook page for PSU Class of 2023 where accepted students post hellos. 90 percent of the posts I have seen have been students accepted but not 100 percent sure they will go to PSU although it’s a top choice. The relevance may be that spaces will open for those waitlisted.

@ziveli513 Just checking the old thread and see you are still waiting for your daughter’s decision. Unreal. PSU couldn’t wait to send the acceptance package for the commonwealth campus which my son has no plans on attending. I read up on some of them and others expressed it was like a fifth year of high school. I told him it wasn’t worth it. Just move on. Difficult for him since he received his second marking period grades and scored all As again with APs, Honors, and Dual Enrollment courses. Still waiting for the balance of 3 other schools: Syracuse, Rensselaer, and NYU. Fingers crossed for you guys ??

@spqr70nj I’m from the Syracuse area and the weather is unbelievably gloomy there. Very few sunny days in the year,if that makes a difference. Winter has lots of low clouds and gray skies. They also get a good amount of snow, but it was the skies I noticed when I would go home to visit as an adult.
@myacocoa funny you mention the weather. When my son visited SU last March he said it was depressing. Lol. I went to UBuffalo so I understood what he was saying. Although I think WNY may have had sunnier skies than CNY. That said, I am encouraging him to pursue either Virginia Tech or WVU (where he received substantial $$$ in scholarship).
@spqr70nj I went to the University of Rochester and I couldn’t believe how much nicer the skies (and overall weather) were there. We live in Ohio now and I have to say this area does NOT get “Buffalo wings” and I can’t order them around here. So yuk! Since you have a basis of comparison for weather, do look up the weather data for those cities. As I recall, Syracuse has shockingly few sunny days, statistically speaking.
