Finally ! Yeah everyone !! Now to narrow down the field of colleges . We are in the middle of our accepted college tours . Z we have a lot of the same colleges on our list . Now thinking about nailing down dorms while we are touring schools . This is the way my son wanted to do it . So we will know soon enough . Enjoy the process everyone . Very exciting .

Housing at psu being so late for her is going to be a challenge if she picks psu

FYI for those making decisions. Committing in April will almost surely give your child supplemental housing.

@jlhpsu has a good point. Some colleges, like PSU look at day the student committed vs. the day the student received the acceptance or random lottery. PSU has more available housing than ever before, per their housing dept., but April may be difficult for any type of housing preference to be met - which certainly increases the chance for supplemental. For students needing the time to decide, and needing the Accepted Student Days to help with the decision, it is hard when many of the Accepted Student Days are already filled and/or don’t fit into the families’ schedule. On the flip side, going to the Accepted Student Days when it’s warmer in State College is always a nicer experience when walking the campus - too bad warmer weather doesn’t come sooner!
@citymama9 thank you !! !! Yes, my d still wants to go to psu, last thing she said recently is psu and Pitt are tied in her mind, “if” she gets into UP
When her packet arrives, she will be thrilled, no more “if” and then she will have the final choice 
and will have to make it fast because of psu unfair housing allocation first come first served boo

Getting bummed again reading about the housing when S is on the wait list for UP.
The dates for his summer trip to China to study Mandarin were just set. If he goes to China, it will preclude Summer Start - if it should be offered as a way for him to get to UP. He and I’ll have to have a good talk tonight.
@ziveli513 PSU is not the only university that allocates housing based on date of acceptance. It is an incentive for kids to make their minds up. At this point, I would imagine you (sorry, your daughter) is in good shape to get what she wants. I just wouldn’t delay too long if she is waffling.

He is truly stuck in the admissions morass because your wait list notice clearly said he would be an admit at UP if space allowed
Well space would have allowed if his ap was processed in order received or even just by 12/24 as promised EA!!!

I have really loved keeping up with this thread - it’s the only thing that has kept me (somewhat) sane through all the waiting. @MyaCocoa yes, we are waiting for 2nd decision, so definitely not in the same boat as those who were waiting for 1st up until yesterday. Applied EA (10/1) to Smeal not knowing that it has about 11% acceptance rate, offered 2+2 in January, declined and reapplied DUS. So many regrets for not applying DUS in the first place - we had no idea that Smeal was so competitive until I started following this thread!
