I wonder when the data comes out on admissions for this 2018-2019 cycle. Does anyone know?
i just got admitted into UP today woah i was expecting it to be full! I just committed to another school but this is working out a lot cheaper for me so tempting now

What are the odds that Penn State over-enrolls this year?
If they truly had 100,000 apps and their historic yield is 27%, that means they run the risk of over-enrollment as soon as they accept more than 30,000 (assuming a freshman class of 8,000).
This would also mean an acceptance rate of 30% (down from 50% a year ago).
I bet they will have some issues with over enrollment, but not a crazy high amount. Lots of kids probably applied just because it was easy to add on their common app, and have no real intent of attending. I think the biggest issue will be lack of housing.
Was at Michigan state another newcomer to the common app… they are expecting a large incoming class … we will find out soon at Penn State when kid attends NSO early June. Will ask when I’m there… for international students it’s even worse the acceptance is around 25% last year.
I notice PSU social media “gently” pushing regional campuses.
@STEM2017 Yes, it seems that everyone wants to go to UP, so the branch campuses, of which there are (too?) many, are often chronically under-enrolled. No wonder they are “pushing” them.

Penn State is listed on the NACAC website as having the capacity for more students (easiest to find if you sort by state for PA). I assume that these are for the commonwealth campuses but it doesn’t really say. https://www.nacacnet.org/news–publications/Research/CollegeOpenings/
I saw that too when I looked, I can’t imagine they have room at UP, weird they didn’t specify which campuses.
Spoke to admissions and they said that they are not accepting new applications to UP. They are only processing applications that have requested to be relooked at (got in branch campus and wanting UP or DUS)
