@jlhpsu Thank you! She is very excited and we are signed up for admitted students day on Feb 8th. I’m confident that will be the day she formally accepts the offer.
I had applied on Nov. 30 to PSU Engineering (2+2) in rolling admissions for the fall term through Common App as an international student, and haven’t gotten any notice since. My Application status message hasn’t even changed ONCE. My application checklist is fully filled and completed, the regional rep assured me of that. Is there any other international student here that has gotten their decision already, or at least noticed any change in their portal?
I forgot to add that the application status message from the start was this:
Your application materials are being verified. Any additional application materials required to complete your application will be added to your Application Checklist during the verification process.
We will update this message when our review of your supporting materials is complete.
@zivelli513 please don’t make assumptions about how things are operating based on a small sample. It’s is incorrect to say that all students who were deferred in December received an initial review of their application, and an initial decision made.
This is not the case for my son - his application was still under verification until Jan 3, so obviously didn’t have a substantive review before deferral. That’s not to say that some applications were reviewed and deferred… it just means that we really don’t know what’s going on, or what’s coming next for each applicant. So the waiting continues.

@UKexpat88 yes I agree, it is a small sample and your sons case is different than others it seems, so frustrating I’m sure
I was addressing those EA who got the deferred message in the portal
And who seem to say that EA aren’t getting answers but priority review are and EA are getting overlooked.
I think we who got the deferred message by 12/22 got deferred in fact and are now being evaluated with priority review same pool decision by 1/31
My hope was to consider that though it’s a mess we aren’t overlooked.
Though in your case something different seems to have happened
Can someone please explain what is happening with Penn state-
I applied EA in October, got deferred and now on the wait list (yes i accepted the waitlist).
People are saying nobody got off waitlist last year. And now admissions is not even looking at EA first???!! HELP
Are people getting emails or just checking the portaL?
Keep checking the portal. My DD was accepted Friday night and still has not received an email.

@omnom2169 International applicants are on a totally different timeline. The application deadline isn’t even until February. At this point, I am sure they are trying to get through the EA and RD applications first before they worry about international applications that haven’t even reached their application deadline yet.
@cml123 Some EA applications were deferred to regular decision, which makes them no longer EA. Now the EA applications that remained were merged with RD so they will come out with RD decisions in random order as Penn State does RD decision that way. You actually DID get a decision. You were waitlisted. Last year, no one was offered a place on the waitlist. I do not think that will be the same for this year. With the common app, there will be tons of students who don’t accept their offer of admission and there will be lots of space opening up. Whether that occurs in the major you chose, no one can really say.
@cml123 though wait list isn’t what u were hoping for, it’s a positive in that it may still be a path to UP campus
This year seems unprecedented by all accounts from people who post here and psu admissions
I think you Consider all your options and if psu up is your first choice you still have hope
If you have other offers you need to seriously consider them
Unfortunately still only time will tell if a spot will open for you, no one knows what’s next because there has never been a wait list in January it seems

We are supposed to hear by 1/31 right? They never sent me or told me anything about being deferred.

Deferred refers to those who applied EA and got a message by 12/22 in portal saying deferred to 1/31 priority review group
May also be people who applied after 11/1 but by 11/30 if they got the deferred message in portal

Just to clarify one thing, all of the updates have come through the portal, correspondence from the PSU admissions dept has been pathetic…
Here is a list of all and only email notifications received from PSU as of today, Jan 27,
Amazing how they were all from Oct. & beginning of Nov. Radio silence since then, yes not a single peep from PSU since 11/8… uhg!
