So is IU B/MD an assurance program and not a guaranteed BS/MD seat? In other words does getting into the program only give you an opportunity to interview with the med school AFTER ONE year? at which point the med school makes the decision ?

Thank you @NoviceDad

It has MCAT and not sure if all the students will be matriculated even if they meet the minimum requirements

Got it. Thank you. I just thought it is a little weird that so many websites list Drexel program as the one not requiring MCAT.

@sdad2024

can you please help understand about students not moving on to ducom med school even if they meet MCAT and GPA reqs? TIA

Please note that acceptance into the College of Medicine is not guaranteed.

Most of the BS/MD programs are guaranteed if all the requirements are met. But Drexel does not. Other colleges like VCU are guaranteed.

In 2024 60 BS/MD got admissions , out of which 33 joined. Assuming all these 33 students meet the GPA/MCAT and other requirements, there is no assurance how many will be able to join the MD program.

@sdad2024 Are you saying Drexel will randomly not allow some of their BS/MD students to join their medical school? at the end of spending 4 years in Drexel undergrad and also meeting the GPA and high MCAT requirement

Does njms interview all who have received the supplements from njms?

I am going from memory but I remember Drexel had a very tough threshold on individual grades, like one bad grade disqualifying a student.

What is the FAU interview format like?

From what I heard the matriculation is not hundred percent. Not all people who joined and fulfilled the requirements will be able to join the MD college. I don’t know the exact percentage, may be NoviceDad has information

If you meet the requirements set out by the program, you will get a medical school seat at Drexel. Even though it says early assurance, they reserve the medical school seat - provided you meet their GPA, MCAT, service hours, etc.

Thank you for clarification!

Is FAU not similar like the Drexel program?

It is - from what we know, if you meet the requirements, you get your spot.

Thank you :folded_hands:t2:

FAU has interview for MD and there are previous posts in collegeconfidential about denials after meeting all the requirements.

Also… about FAU… They also have a med school interview during undergrad. And 1 or 2 students out of a total of 9-10 do not make it to med school. Just FYI

Ok thanks for letting me know.

Thank you all for your responses

How many students are interviewed - what is the ratio of interview to selected students? for both AMC and NJMS?
