While I am not a fan of the much-longer-than-when-I-was-a-kid baseball play off schedule, due to expansion and Wild Cards, I realize that it means there are more teams/cities that are invested in the playoffs, so I guess that is good.
I’m getting ready to watch the Phillies vs Mets - who just announced a starting pitcher that most players have never seen! The Phillies were red hot in May, I hope they get that mojo back.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE watching youth baseball. To me, there is no better game than that 70 ft. diamond. I just can’t stand watching a full professional baseball game. Now BANABALL? That’s something I can get behind. Hoping to snag some Savanah Banana tickets this summer.
Mets fan here! Feel like we’re playing with some kind of magic spell at this point–I don’t know how long it will last, but I am going to enjoy every moment of it while it does.
Might be my favorite group of players ever! They’re just so full of joy and optimism, and like each other so much. We even have a Latin pop star (minor exaggeration but he had a number one song on Billboard) who has been a fantastic addition to the team (and his hit song is pretty great, too!)
Argh . . .that game did not go the way I thought it would. Happy for you @garland but disappointed in my Phillies. It’s the team that gets hot at the right time that advances, not necessarily the team with the best record (as the Phillies experienced in 2022).
Well, it’s true the Mets don’t have the best record for the year, but they have had the best record in baseball since May 31. So not just getting hot this moment–been hot for two thirds of the season.
I was disappointed that the Mets lost, but what a game! Classic back and forth battle. See you Tuesday! Literally the first time the Mets will be home (not just playing at home field, but literally in their own homes),in two weeks.
One more Padres fan here. I got a bonus that my son who goes to school in LA came down for the Wednesday wild card game last week, so I got to see him for a few hours at home and then drove him and his friend down to Petco for the game. Go Padres!
That was quite a game! I missed it live, but skimmed through the tape. Even though I already knew the outcome it was a nail biter. That Mets HR in the 9th took all the air out of the room for sure!
Amazing night at Petco Park. So happy that the Padres brought it!
Tom DeLonge from Blink 182 singing All the Small Things with the crowd was epic. I think it was louder last night than in 2022 when we were there and we beat the Dodgers to move on.
D2 and I will be near Petco tonight watching the game with all fingers crossed!
