Y’all are SEC all the way!

Weird ending to the Illinois game. I’m happy the Illini won, but also feel for the Rutgers team…especially since it was their senior game. I-L-L :orange_heart::blue_heart:

We are so bad but if you’re going to have a losing season, being a spoiler gives some satsfaction.

See Oklahoma

ETA: Speaking of that game, the committee better not put Bama in the playoffs with three losses. They didn’t even score a TD today!

So many upsets and near-upsets of ranked teams yesterday, especially in the SEC. It was an exciting football day!

As the fan of a pretty average Clemson team this year, I concur

I was listening to a sports talk radio program last night, when one of the talking heads brought up the possibility this coming weekend of “SEC Apocalypse”:

 Tennessee losing to Vanderbilt
 Georgia losing to Georgia Tech
 Texas losing to Texas A&M
 Alabama losing to Auburn

I didn’t stick around for the on-air discussion; but I suppose that any or all of these outcomes could happen. Imagine the chaos in the CFP then!

I have watched/listened to so many college sports talking heads on YouTube that I am starting to get crypto ads! They think that I’m a 25yo guy!

I console myself with the idea that us losing to A&M means that we’d only have two losses on the entire year without the risk of losing a third time at the SEC championship and could still make the playoff.

It used to be that teams were excited to get to the conference championship game; but with the CFP rankings to consider, now it is a bit of a mixed blessing, where losing in the conference championship game could put you out of the playoffs entirely. Collateral damage for the new CFP system, I suppose.

Don’t get me wrong … nothing would be sweeter than to me than winning the Big 12 championship in our last year in that conference and the SEC championship in our first year in that conference, especially because SEC fans were so dismissive of us (get ready for the SEC, you got an easy schedule, etc). But I’m trying to see positives in a particular negative (losing to A&M).

ETA: I’ll never forget that last game against them in 2011 and the Justin Tucker kick to win it. Sweet memory!

they’ll likely tweak the system and end conference title games to avoid this from happening in the future

To me, it is starting to feel like we don’t need a 12 team playoff.

I like the playoff system. Let’s teams such as Indiana prove their mettle against tougher competition and could quiet SEC fans who act like they are better than everyone else so deserve all kinds of special treatment. I feel much more invested in the college game this year as I’m being forced to follow, however loosely, more teams. Never did I ever think that I would watch an Indiana game, but here we are!
