2025 COSMOS Guidance/advice

Hey Guys!
I am currently a sophomore, and am interested in attending COSMOS the following year. To those of you who have previously attended this program, I welcome you guys to share your knowledge and advice regarding COSMOS. Questions are also appreciated!

I’ve heard that less common clusters have higher acceptance. I would like to attend a cluster relating to chemistry (and perhaps biology). Does anyone know of some rarer clusters within these fields?

I don’t know the acceptance rate but my son who did COSMOS last year at UCSD said that Biodiesel form Renewable Sources would be a good choice for students with an interest in chemistry. They seemed to spend a lot of time in the lab.

I do find the cluster interesting but I’m not confident I will be able to get in because I don’t really have any extracurriculars (having to do with stem), how hard was it for your son to get into it? (Did he have a good extracurricular background?)

Cosmos is highly competitive, there’s no way around it. Apply for a cluster that you are authentically interested in and can talk passionately about. The activities you use don’t necessarily have to be related. They like well rounded students. I have a cosmos alumni, and a daughter who is applying this year.
Apply to several programs and have backup plans if you don’t get in to COSMOS. COSMOS is like a reach college on applications, hope for the best and have other good options.

Good luck COSMOS applicants! Today is the application deadline :dizzy:
