To a wrestler, it was a gentle body slam as Posa used the force of his arms to deposit the opposing player on the ground. But, even a drop would probably have triggered a personal foul penalty in the slightly more gentle sport of college football. Sure would have been a personal foul penalty in pro football and, since the game was held in a pro football stadium, the penalty seemed appropriate.
So we went to Wrigley and had a wonderful time. Penn State lost but we did get to see an entire match.
The team stayed at the hotel across the street and we went there at the conclusion of their match with the intention of possibly returning for the Nebraska/Missouri match. (We were surprised they let you scan your ticket to leave the premises so you could return later.)
Just 3 things I wanted to mention.
I have never attended a sporting event against Nebraska and was absolutely floored with their turnout. It felt like 80-90% of the people there were Nebraska fans!
It was very cool to be a part of a sold out (43,000) crowd for a Women’s volleyball tournament.
The slippery surface issues started toward the end of the Penn State/Kentucky. It seemed strange because sitting in the stands was very comfortable…not hot, not cold, not humid. Glad they chose to suspend play.
Lastly sitting on the outdoor balcony across from Wrigley, I put a plug in for College Confidential.
DH and I started talking with the two women seated near us and they shared that they were waiting for their respective daughters (volleyball-playing HS freshman and sophomore) who were inside Wrigley. Naturally that led to us asking if their daughters were interested in playing in college. College admissions became a topic and I couldn’t resist mentioning CC! DH was amused.
I can’t tell whether you are being serious or sarcastic here. Do you think there was time left on the clock or not?

Was trying to inject humor, not sarcasm, into the discussion. Nevertheless, the real world runs on money first and a Michigan loss would have cost too many interests too much.
WMU outplayed U Michigan for most of the game. So a second was added leading to a single play which resulted in a 50 yard touchdown. Everyone knew what the single play would be, yet WMU was unable to successfully defend their goal line.
The game is over. A reasonable explanation with video has been given to the MAC Conference by the Big Ten Conference and all are satisfied as the Big Ten Conference has spoken.
The NCAA’s draconian policies have led us to today’s over-reaction of NIL valuations & open-door, instant-eligibility transfer portals.
The SEC is running an ad campaign to urge viewers to stop the insanity engulfing college athletics by urging viewers to contact their federal legislators to enact laws curbing the splurge of excess.
Interesting development just as the Big Ten Conference & the SEC were about to takeover big-time college athletics.
As a side-note: If anyone foolishly believes that Notre Dame football might join a conference soon, just do a quick search for Notre Dame football earnings last year (about $196,000,000) versus the top earners in the Big Ten Conference (about half of ND’s earnings–$92 million) or the top earner in the SEC which was even lower than the Big Ten’s Top earners.
More likely that Notre Dame football might buy a conference than vice-versa.
Why not show the public what they saw ? They’ve yet to do it.
In today’s world, we can catch you peeing in the bushes in a park on video.
So just show us the evidence. Is that too much to ask for ?
The refs are paid by the Big 10. We need neutral conference refs in these games.
Agreed. The WMU safety, Joey Pope, the closest WMU player is listed at 5’11". And the UM WR, JJ Buchanan, who made the catch is listed at 6’4". And he definitely “high-pointed” the ball.
I have seen it a few times. ESPN showed it several times yesterday.

The 2 or 3 replays that I watched had 1 second remaining when the player high pointed the ball AFTER having stepped out of bounds.
They finally wised up - the $$ aren’t worth it.
Everything I’ve seen has 0:00 on the clock before he high-pointed the ball.
They are not even asking for the win but for the win in determining bowls. They’re not going to slap the Big 10 given the payday.
Besides, everyone knows they won.

Now the NCAA is changing its protocol. Yes, let’s go back and retroactively give WMU the win using the new clock protocol. Sounds good!
If I’m on the CFP committee, then I’m making a mental note that Michigan is 0-1. Michigan played poorly and I don’t think they’ll get any better until there’s a QB change.
