I saw a little of that coverage, @SJ2727. He sure is getting attention for more than his tennis. Someone who isn’t shy to be shirtless at times is Tiafoe, but he has a more conservative kit this time (no sleeveless shirt) and he looks great in the charcoal & pink outfit with pink sneakers, imo. His tennis has been pretty impressive so far as well.
Pink socks and sneakers seem to be the thing. Zverev (I think it was) in his baby pink yesterday and Tiafoe rather brighter today. I am very fond of Tiafoe (and his background story) - hope he does well - the Americans in general are doing pretty well at the moment.
I like Chan’s outfit in the women’s doubles match - especially the nails matching!
Disappointing day for some US players yesterday.
Loving Townsend’s style!
eala jovic was great. more winners than unforced errors. 3 hrs of tennis bliss but would have preferred a different outcome although the better player yesterday won unlike that wmu v um robbery

easily the best match at the tourney thus far. as for the men, carlos looks unbeatable after cruising thru t paul.
Looking at Tiafoe’s dad. I can’t imagine what it must feel like, fleeing a war-torn country and ending up watching an entire home crowd chanting your son’s name in one of the sport’s biggest tournaments.
What a great match.
It’s past my bedtime here on the west coast watching this great match…I can only assume no one in Ashe is going to work tomorrow!
Yes, it’s after 2 a.m., and, yes, I’m still watching this match.
I watched the first set, fell asleep with the tv on and then woke up to 5-5 in the fifth and watched the rest. Such a great match! I couldn’t believe how many people were still in the stands!
Unbelieveable endings to two matches yesterday. Hard to believe they can play that well at 3am.
Glad I got to see Tiafoe’s comeback as I fell asleep during 3rd set of Pegula-Navarro. I knew I would never see any of Shelton-Alcaraz. Some really good tennis yesterday!
When I saw the results on the news this morning I couldn’t believe how many people stayed that late to watch!
Apparently a bunch of people did leave after the first set, either because it was after midnight or because they thought they knew how it was going to go (or both). What a shame for them. Even watching on TV you could feel how electric the crowd was throughout.
The US Open need to rethink its scheduling. What a shame to have a fantastic match take place in the wee hours of the morning.
I am really loving the strength of the field for women the last few years. So many good players. I think that’s one of the things affecting the night schedule - you can’t count on quick 2 set matches with one player (often Serena) taking care of business quickly.
Article about the late nights (should be no firewall)
They point out that the longer matches earlier are an issue in this sense, starting evening games earlier than 7pm doesn’t really work for NY, that it gives west coast viewers (20% of the market) prime time viewing, and also has viewership in Asia/Australia at that time. All that said there seems to be agreement that it just goes too late at the moment.
Sad to turn on the final and discover that ABC /ESPN haven’t figured out that the public wants Andy Roddick and not the McEnroe brothers on the call for today’s final. Clearly, they haven’t been paying attention to the overwhelming sentiment for Roddick on social media. Maybe next year…
