???????

University of Florida or University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill for undergrad? Any opinions would be great. Thanks!

How about a little more info about your situation/goals?

the general advice though is to go where you have the best fit: the place where you can achieve the most while having the most fun.

Definitely UNC Chapel Hill! LOL! (Hehe,…after all I AM “Tartheheel”)

But BRM’s right. We do need more info to give you our opinions…

Joakim Noah vs. Tyler Hansborough!

Well I’m a CC student which I know isn’t a good start for wanting to go to med school. I went not because I coulndn’t get into a four year school (I actually did and started there) but because for the financial aspect. At CC I have about a 3.8, and my EC’s are generic. I’ve been at the CC for two years so I’ll have my AA come spring of 2007 (big whoop I know). I do however want to give myself a decent shot at getting into a med school somewhere. I’m a Florida resident so U of Florida would be cheaper, but if I were to attend UNC-CH I’d move to NC so after a year or so I would be a resident. Thanks in advance and I’d be glad to answer any more questions you need.

You do realize that you cannot obtain residency while a full-time student, right?

I did it Florida. I live off campus in my own house, pay all the bills, and work full-time. They ask for proof of it all make sure you make enough money and that’s about it.

I have something else I would like to ask. I have a high interest in medicine, love helping, and a passion for animals. I didn’t want to go into veterinary medicine because I didn’t think I could handle working with a sick animal. As weird as it may sound the idea of working with a sick person was much easier then the thought of a sick animal. I’ve been rethinking things and now I’m wondering if I should do veterinary medicine. I know the school is much harder to get into because there are fewer schools. I was wondering if it might be worth it because I’m wondering if the insurance would be cheaper, and with all the problems that they have in healthcare. That’s what I’ve been thinking about and would love to hear any input everyone has. Thanks so much.

You expect to hold down a full-time job while a full-time student? In that case, I retract my comment.

I’ve done it for the last two and a half years 15-18 credits and 35-40 hours not fun but it pays the bills.

Karl, different states have different rules for residency. Check out the N. Carolina rules before you make your decision. Some will not let you be a resident after being an out of state student regardless of paying the bills or full time job. Good luck

I’ve checked and it’s fairly easy.

…bump… thanks
