I recently improved my SAT score from a 1970 to 2130. I am extremely happy with this score, and I’m wondering what kind of opportunities this could present to me as far as college admissions go. Is a 2130 good enough to get accepted to places of NYU standards? I am not 100% sure if I even want to apply there, but I know it is a very selective school. What good colleges in the north east should I be able to consider with a 2130 SAT?

You should totally be able to consider NYU. My GC said it was a match when I had a 2080. The 2130 should make you competitive. Northeastern and BU would also be really good with that score.

Boston College, The UMass schools, Syracuse, Buffalo, Maine, Vermont, Rochester, and SUNY schools would fit your 2130. Not sure about NYU however. A 2130 is probably competitive for applicants, but you may want to take the SAT one more time to try to improve it. Check out the NYU thread here on CC to see what other applicants/admitted students have SAT-wise.

I had a 2120 (660, 710, 750; CR, M, W)

I disagree with the above poster; NYU’s almost a lock (excl. Stern).

I also got a 2130 and got into Princeton, George Washington, Penn State, UVa, and a few safeties
Ivies are pretty much a reach for anyone though, even if you have a 2400
