<p>Definitely not. First of all, you need to raise that verbal score.</p>
<p>Secondly, SAT scores alone won’t get you in anywhere, especially top schools such as those that you listed.</p>

<p>Sure those scores could be good enough. You dont need great scores (2150 is good) and the rest of your app is very important.</p>
<p>Of course, higher scores cant hurt. I got a 2260 and got into Penn, Brown, Duke (and didnt get rejected anywhere). My identical twin had a 2220 and got into Columbia, MIT.</p>
<p>After a certain score (2200-2250) and above, SATs just become a thing that won’t keep you out of a college. </p>
<p>Stanford rejects over 50% of the people with perfect SATs. SATs alone absolutely will not get you into colleges, especially not top colleges. If it did, a lot of people’s problems would be over on this board. :P</p>

<p>I was accepted to Northwestern and Cornell Engineering Schools with 2190 and a VERY solid engineering background. I was rejected from Columbia College and Wharton, but I think that if I had applied to these schools for engineering, I would have had an awesome chance. If you can write great essays and have a good math/science background, you definitely have a chance.</p>
<p>You should look at Cornell for engineering as well, it is probably better than both Penn and Columbia for this field.</p>
<p>my son’s first shot at the SAT in April resulted in 800 verbal, 800 writing but 690 math. He plans on taking it in October to hopefully get the math up, but who knows what will happen. He has great grades, rank, AP’s, and ec’s. </p>

<p>Yea. That is a great score. If you don’t have a chance to take it again don’t worry. The SAT is only one balance on the scale that colleges weigh you on. Some people are excellent students who just happen to be bad SAT takers. The SAT is about as valid as an IQ test. Hence, it really isn’t valid at all, but people believe it is.</p>

I got 2170, 680 cr, 690 w, and 800 m, and the score report shows that my CR score is 93% in the nation!!! and my writing score is about 85%
I hope to get into stanford too. I’m thinking about retaking them in june or october. do you think I’ll have enough time to study for the june test?</p>

<p>No SAT score will get you into schools by itself. The SAT is simply not that important, or, as we generally tell students, “your SAT’s may get you considered at a school, but your personal statement could get you IN”.</p>
<p>As for your current score of 2150, I would suggest re-testing. Your total score is fine, but it would like somewhat better if your scores were all above 700.</p>

<p>Actually, SATs aren’t nearly as important as say, GPA and rank, yet if you have ‘low’ SATs (less than 600 each section), you are unlikely to go to a top 10 school.</p>
<p>A 2150 is a very good score. It certaintly isn’t the most important factor. You have to have good recommendations, grades, extracurriculars, etc… to get into those scores. There have been people with lower scores who have gotten into those schools.</p>
<p>Isn’t the national SAT average something like 1500? I feel like a 2150 is “good enough” as long as it’s supported with a strong GPA, essay, etc.</p>
