2160 -----> 1780 Need advice

The title explains it all. I have been studying for 8 months now and I have been getting 2100’s and 2200’s on all of my practice tests ( all from the blue book). However, I got a 1780 on my real test:

560 Writing (this section is usually my best)
550 CR (…)
670 Math (I legit just ran out of time)

I honestly thought I got a 770 in writing, 700 in math and 600 in CR.

So what should I do? Should I ask for a re-grade?

I personally did 30 words a day and did 1 test every week (sometimes 2-3 tests).

What did you guys do? Any advice?

That’s a dreadful result considering the time and effort you put in, but I think you may have just strained yourself a little too hard.

You need to ask yourself one gigantic question: Are you accurately simulating the test day environment? If not, then that might be the issue. You need to give yourself the time alloted and use that as a marker for how well you did.

In my opinion, since you still haven’t gotten anything near what you expect to get on the board yet, I would take a week or two off before your next SAT to prevent from burning out. In my experience, I took it exactly 1 yr. after my sophomore year without studying any material at all for the test taken in jr. year, and the score ended up launching to a 2060 (630 M; 680 CR; 750 W) all the way from an 1830 (590 M; 600 CR; 650 W). I would definitely try and relax a bit. I promise it’ll go a long way. Sorry to say, though, that since you say that your real SAT is a 1780 as of now that is what you’ll be adjudged on. No one knows you were getting a 2160 but yourself, so it’s best not to mention it and harness that motivation towards doing well on the actual exam. You can’t think of previous tests when you are working on the current one…it’ll likely throw you off; rather, the knowledge should naturally flood to your hippocampus and frontal lobe, so you can do work!
