250 word essay

Filling out the common application for a California university and need input on the prompt.
The prompt is as follows:
Elanor Roosevelt once said " Do what you feel in your heart to be right for you will be criticized anyway." Describe a time when you went against the grain and why?

I was thinking about writing about my experience travelling alone to Central American and some African cities alone as a young female and my desire to not only travel for pleasure, but to experience ones culture.

Do you guys think this could be a good topic, is it too broad and do you have any advice on how to narrow this down to 250 words?

I don’t think that is what that quote means.

it means challenging the status quo or going against the grain and not worrying about people criticizing you because no matter what you do someone will object.

Okay. I thought that might have been the case. Thanks
