That’s how many are in the package I impulsively bought today. I have no idea why they’re packaged in such large quantities–this was at an ordinary supermarket, not Costco or the like. I have a great salad I make with arugula, figs and prosciutto–but that will use up four of them. Then what? Any fig recipes will be greatly appreciated (but nothing that requires canning, though I’m sure fig jam is splendid).

Wash them, cut them in half lengthwise, freeze them. Excellent added to fruit or otherwise salads.

Fig jam made by pureeing the figs and boiling them until thick is great, especially when mixed with equal parts goat cheese. I don’t preserve the jam, just put it in a clean jar and freeze.

Eat them fresh as a snack, as you would any fruit.

Simmer them in red wine and serve with any cheese.

I’ve never made those but a friend did and brought them to a shower we recently attended. They were very good!

Another idea is an hors d’oeuvre that is tasty. Cut the figs lengthwise. Mix softened cream cheese with a little honey, and pipe or spoon the mixture onto the figs. Broil gently until cheese is melted.

I do this with dates, but think it could work with figs.

Slice them - and put in:
cream cheese
jalapenos
slivered almonds
almonds
a combo of the above

Wrap with about 1/4 of strip of thick bacon.

Broil.

Yummy.

For an appetizer figs wrapped in proscuitto and stuffed with cheese (goat or gorganzola) is pretty yummy. Stick them in the oven to melt the cheese.

The best appetizer I ever had involved figs and fois gras and creme fraiche. Wish I knew the recipe!

Well now I need to find a big package of figs at my grocery store…!

cut in half, put on a dab of goat cheese and a spinkle of basalmic and that will take care of 12.

Or blue cheese. And drizzle with a little warmed honey.

when i bought the costco package i made this:

it was very good.

Oh, you reminded me of arugula! I am going to the store to get some and I may pick up some figs…

Goat cheese, walnuts, then under the broiler.

I’ll buy 1 of the figs from you if I can pay on my American Express card, MommaJ.
