2nd year of pharmacy survival tips

Any tips on surviving the second year of pharmacy?
I will be taking:
-Organic Chemistry I (TBA)
-Anatomy & Physiology I (Burnstein)
-Physics for Pharmacy (TBA)
-Fundamentals of Western Music Theory (Hubert Ho)

Specifically, do you guys have any tips in surviving organic chemistry? And, do any of you know if Warner will be teaching Organic Chem I this coming semester (he used to be assigned to an organic chem I class at 10:35am, but the class was given to Stenberg instead).

Any tips pertaining to time management and study skills for the above subjects would be greatly appreciate! :)

Second year is easy – wait until you get to third year-- phamacology and the CDM series!!! Seriously though, go to class, do the assigned work and you should be just fine.

Eh. Organic isn’t as big and scary as people want you to think it is (I mean, it might take over your life, and you’ll probably live in a cave for the days before and exam, and you’ll probably have frequent nightmares about six-ring molecules…) but for me at least, it was manageable if I kept up and really payed attention.

The trick to organic is 1) understanding WHY things happen (not just that they do), 2) practice problems, 3) practice problems, 4) practice problems. I would skim the reading and write out all the mechanisms, look at each mechanism carefully to see what was going on, and then try the given problems at the end of each section. Got me through the first semester pretty easily (second semester not so much, I got dominated and died a slow, sad, painful death).

I also rrrreally recommend Organic Chemistry as a Second Language as a supplement, can buy it on amazon pretty cheap and it’s super awesome.
