Please tell me what calculation mistakes I have made in this rudimentary model.

The current newspaper cites that there is are 36 million people who are medically unissued.
However it may be a low ball figure as other places I have seen estimated of 50 million uninsured.

Therefore, let us assume that federal government would insure 40 million people. For assumption, we calculate that 15 million people are single and 25 million people are in a pool of family.

Finance Committee documents also flesh out proposals to tax employer-provided health benefits in excess of a certain value say, $6,200 for individuals and $15,700 for families,
which the documents project as the value of the standard Blue Cross plan for federal employees in 2013. (Figure from NY times). http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/19/us...h.html?_r=1&hp

About 25% of Americans are worried that they could lose health care coverage in the next year, a Univ. of Michigan survey found. Nearly half of those questioned expressed concerns theyll be unable to pay for future care.Thebiggest age group fearing a loss of coveragewasbetween 50-64 years old, withmorewomenthanmenfretting about losing their health insurance. Thegovt estimated that health care costs this yearwould average $8,160 for every person in the U.S.,up$356a person from 09. (Page 2 on IBD 06/19/2009)

For individual = 10,000,000 6,200 (NY times data) 62,000,000,000
For family 30,000,000 15,700 (NY times data) 157,000,000,000

Yearly cost (total)= 219,000,000,000

Alternative ensuring each one 40,000,000 8,160 (IBD data 6/19/2009) 326,400,000,000

Let us say, truth is in between, and we average the data ((.22+.32)/2 =0.27 trillion) and then multiply it with 2% inflation over 10 years period. The cost comes out to be
(.27 * 1.02^10) = 3.3 trillion dollars over 10 years.

Let us make this data more accurate and better. No personal opinion just facts to make this data gets better and accurate. Please nothing agianst democrats or republicans politicians. As I want to know why we are seeing low ball figures.

How the CBO office is estimating figure only 1.6 trillion over 10 year periods.?
