My friend who is now attending USC told me she got an instate tuition price because she had a GPA higher than 3.5. We (obviously) don’t life in South Carolina, but I wanted to know if this was true.

It’s actually a bit more formulaic than that. They have a grid that uses both GPA and test scores for scholarship qualification. An example would be SAT of 1300 (old score) and GPA of 3.6 = X scholarship or a GPA of 3.8 and an SAT of 1350 = Y scholarship etc. *Note: this is just an example and not based on factual knowledge of where the exact cutoffs are. * The bar raises each year as classes become more competitive.

Scholarships range from $500 PLUS reduced tuition which is somewhere between in state and OOS to $4000 PLUS tuition reduced to in-state levels. There are also scholarships in between those amounts that also include a fill reduction to in-state tuition.

the University has now published a good explanation of their scholarships that is available to read online at www./sc.edu/admissions/content/moneymatters.htm

Thank you all :)
