3.84 GPA in high school?

If I get this GPA, along with rigorous classes (11 APs by the end of senior year), a 36 ACT score, and slightly above average ECs, do I stand a good shot at engineering? Would I qualify for any merit scholarships?

While a 3.84 GPA is good, it really depends how you are compared to the rest of your school. Comparing yourself to your school profile will really help determine if your GPA is good or not. GPA is calculated differently by schools; therefore, I can’t make an accurate judgement whether your GPA will be good or not. However, with a perfect ACT score, average EC’s, you should stand a good chance at Engineering.

Frankly glladgrat, if your 3.84 is unweighted, you have nothing to worry about. I don’t believe that they’ll be able to fill available slots with those applicants whose unweighted GPA is within the .16 points of a perfect 4.0, and you’ve certainly taken a rigorous curriculum. On the other hand, you don’t state your program, or class rank, if available, and you haven’t specified whether the 3.84 is weighted, or unweighted, so I’m leaving myself some wiggle room.

It’s unweighted. My school doesn’t rank anymore, but my WGPA is a 4.8, so I would probably be around the top 10%, maybe even higher.

You’re In for any program other than bioengineering. That’s a crapshoot no matter what stats you have.
