3 F's on Transcript- UCLA

I’m a freshman at UCLA. And I have already received 3 F’s on my transcript. I am will improve my grades starting Spring quarter but how cam I fix the F’s?
Fall quarter I took the following classes
Math 1: C-
Eng Comp 2: B
GE Cluster: F

Winter quarter
Math 31 A: F
Ancient Near East: C-
Eng Comp 3: C-
Anthro 7: F

How can I improve my GPA which is now a 1.2? What are my options for retaking the 3 classes I failed, how do I retake the GE cluster? All answers will be helpful.
Have any of you had a GPA in beginning of college but ended up improving significantly?

are you black or Latino?

Lol, will that help answer the question?

Talk to your advisor about whether or not you can retake classes and any procedures involved. Use the academic support resources at your school to help you get on track. Try to figure out what is interfering with your academic progress and correct those things. Make your academics your priority and makes sure that you pass everything from here on out.

It is possible to dig yourself out if you don’t get dismissed from your school for not maintaining a certain academic level, but it is going to take a lot of focused hard work on your part. (Many many years ago, my husband had a similar GPA and even had a .8 one semester, the dean threatened to kick him out if he did not get a 4.0 the next semester and stay on dean’s list after that–he later earned a Ph.D. There were a lot of personal barriers for him at the time, but once he got those sorted out he did very well.) You can too if you want to.

@NorthernMom61 Thank you so much! I’m just in shock that UCLA counselors or anyone else still hasn’t contacted me regrading my grades. Why is that?

You’re in college now and will be treated more like an adult. They generally aren’t going to call you (or your parents) if you fail classes. UCLA is also a large school which makes it more likely you wont be contacted unless you’re on the verge of getting kicked out. Definitely talk to an advisor about re-taking to replace grades.

@Lagging Aren’t I on a verge of getting kicked out since I currently have a 1.2 GPA?

Probably. Definitely talk to an advisor about it, no one can give you better advice than the school itself. It is a bit strange they haven’t said anything yet but it’s also not their job to remind you to work hard and do well. At a lot of schools they will warn you after 1 semester/quarter that if you have problems the following one they will kick you out.
