I am at day 25 of the plank challenge. Tonight, I am to do another 3.5 minute, ugh, but tomorrow is a rest day. I am determined to get to 5 minutes. I see the young gals at the gym do it effortlessly.

Day Two down!

I often do a one minute plank with my trainer. I’m bored 30 seconds into it, but at least I can talk to her. What do you do to keep your mind occupied? (i’m not a big music person, so I need to be doing something beyond that)

If you have an iPad or some sort of a tablet, you can surf CC while doing planks. :D

I’m in. My brother was doing a push up challenge where he added 5 pu a day. I’m thinking about trying to do both.

NJ, I watch my favorite gamer streams. Bonus is that there’s times in the games so I can time myself.

Obviously not everyone’s cup of tea but you could substitute it for a youtube video or your favorite show- anything with a timer! :)

My trainer is one who doesn’t see worthwhile benefits in marathon planking; we cap it at 60 seconds (plus side planks). Also, if you’re pushing yourself and your form deteriorates it can be hard on your back. I’m sitting out on this challenge. ;)

I also like wall sits.

https://www.skimble.com/workouts/1604-100-second-wall-sit-challenge

Did 2 60+ seconds wall sits and 2 20-30 second planks at gym today.

Done for today. I added 20 second planks on each side.
This is great timing for me. I have not done any ab work in about three months and I needed to get back into the habit.
TempeMom- I also added back in counter push ups. I am starting with twelve a day.

Done with day two.

I hurt my back last night a bit shoveling out my car so I definitely felt that one more than yesterday’s attempt!

I think I’ll add in the wall sits. I have more strength in my legs than anywhere else on my body (my push-ups are pathetic) and it would be a good exercise!

Romani - I strained my back yesterday too so today’s 20 seconds was more difficult.

Done!

I think it should be paired with Nap for Life - [Home - Nap for Life©](http://www.napforlife.net)

I can do 2 minutes, but the last minute is probably done in a bad form. I hate planks, but not as much as push-ups.

I do recommend people to stick to it, it does get a LITTLE BIT easier. And it does get you very nice abs. I am not skinny, but I do have a flat stomach and very well defined abs. Although it was not an overnight result, it took a while.

I’m in. Done! Started this a bit before Xmas, then fell off the wagon. But 20 seconds tonight felt plenty long.

From what a PT told me, if you can’t do these exercises in good form, find an easier adaptation, use good form, and move up from there, to avoid injury as well as work the right muscle groups.

Just did Day Three. I had just been counting myself but figured out how to use my new phone’s stopwatch. Turns out my counting was just right! The dreading was harder than the doing. That said, I can still “feel” my twitchy stomach.

I did my 20 seconds and my two push ups. Ha.

Also, though, in my own defense I am using a pedometer and pretty routinely get over 10,000 steps a day.

Day 3 done

I just recruited my two daughters and my mom to do it with me. My older daughter is a professional ballet dancer, but her unfair advantage only motivates me more!

Done!

I’m a trainer and I rarely have my clients go over 1 minute. Too boring for them (and me) and more benefit to having them increase the resistance of the plank. There are so many ways to do this.

Should we keep it simple or add something to it like kitchen counter pushups? We could build up to a set of ten with the ultimate goal of 5 sets per day thoughts?

College4K - I saw a pix online of an entire family planking together. They formed a circle with their heads together. Cute! I think it would be great if I can talk my 75 yr old Mom into this…a strong core is very important as we age.
