<p>Try not to go over the limit by 10%. The colleges set a limit for a reason, to see if you can write concise, terse statements while answering their question. The college forms its first impression of you if you cannot even follow the simplest directions.</p>

<p>Go to about 525, but no more. Most universities/colleges won’t care if you go over the limit by a couple of words.</p>
