31 ACT versus 32 ACT

So, 32 ACT seems to be the magic number. I have already taken the ACT four times. I got a 31 on my June ACT and the other three times I got a 30. This time I prepped by taking 5 practice test from The Real ACT prep book. Should I retake the ACT in September to try for a 32. Also, what is something I could do to prep now that I have already used all my practice test in Real ACT? And should I consider what it would look to colleges if I have taken the ACT five times?

p.s. mostly want a 32 for scholarship reasons. I do plan on applying to Yale, Brown, and the University of Chicago as reach schools. Thought this information may make a difference, but I am not sure.

Thanks in advance!

That’s tricky, as 31 to 32 does seem like a big jump, but so does taking the test 4 times to 5 times. I was under the impression that with the ACT you only send the tests you want them to see, though? If that’s still the case, definitely give it another shot.

I’m pretty sure the ACT allows for score selection so you might not have to send all of your scores to colleges. Also, don’t only take the practice tests but really try and go over each problem that you got wrong (and those that you got right but might have guessed on). This way you can really learn from your mistakes and do better. There are a number of ACT prep apps that you can download on your phone that gives practice problems. Its a decent way to use any down time to study.

Have you tried the SAT? People usually do better on one or the other.

@Lilliana330 I tried the SAT once. I got a 1900 and a 1330 (CR+M)…from charts I’ve seen I think my ACT score is better.

^ Ahh, yes it is
