33 Great Mother's Day (or whatever) Gifts

I usually find I look at gift lists and am disappointed. I don’t actually like receiving gifts and we don’t do Mother’s Day/Father’s Day gifts BUT I actually thought there were a lot of fun gift ideas here for many occasions - and many under $25!

I personally want the Lego flowers.
I have a cheaper set of the 3 size “diamond” earrings that I wear daily
I am ordering the Zojirushi insulated bottle
I highly recommend the Baggu zippered bag!

Anything catch your eye to give or receive? Mother’s Day or anyday??

(I believe a gift link is not needed - if this doesn’t work, let me know)

I give the Kerastase oil :+1::+1:! It is expensive but so good.

I told my daughter that I don’t want her to buy me anything for Mother’s Day but a great gift would be if she helps us figure out where to hang our photos and artwork (she works on an as-needed basis at the main museum in our state). We had our entire downstairs repainted before COVID and still haven’t put anything back on the walls! She said sure, and she’ll stay afterwards to celebrate.

I would love the pajamas, the hiking socks, the bookstore gift card or the spa day. I have received spa day gift cards as well as gift cards for the local bookstore in the past.

We no longer do gift items unless it’s something someone really wants and requests. Instead we find a fun experience and get a gift card to it. Can’t wait to see what DD comes up with this year. Last Mother’s Day was a cooking class.

I’m so hard to buy for, because I don’t want things. But, I actually just bought myself those sunglasses on Amazon. They’re the upgrade to my usual $5 Walmart ones. H has been teasing me about them, but I am insisting they are stylish. He teases me about my old ones too…

My kids are getting me a massage. How do I know? They texted H for his help to actually purchase it, and he read the text aloud to me as it came through. And I had to help research to find one that I might actually like. I need a deep tissue one, and it’s hard to find someone in town that actually does it… The kids don’t know it’s spoiled, so I’ll pretend to be surprised on Sunday.

I never ever buy my mom presents. She insisted on it when we were growing up, but this reminded me I might amazon her some cheap Suduko books. She started doing them this last year on her cruise. She often asks me to help her crack some of the harder ones. She has only done them online. I think she’d like an actual book. I find it easier myself.

Actually the first list I’ve seen of some fun things I might actually like. I saw the lego flower kits at the Lego store in Orlando. There are many different types and look pretty neat. Pretty large price range.

I’ve already ordered my present–Uniqlo has a major sale on their large “moon” purse. I have the mini one and love it and the larger size is on sale for less than $10. Hard to go wrong.

I was hoping something on the list would catch my attention, but no.

I’m not a fan of gifts of things either - I want (and love) experiences.

This year my D is taking me to the Paley Fest to see the world premiere of (costume designer) a Bob Mackie documentary & then in conversation with Bob Mackie, Cher (one of his biggest clients), Carol Burnett & Ru Paul. This is my kind of gift! We’ll have dinner first, and that’s always a treat.

For Mother’s Day my love took me to The Greek Theater last week, where we thoroughly enjoyed The English Beat & Adam Ant. Again, my kind of gift.

We used to weed the gardens for Mother’s Day, but now that mine are far away, I told them to do something nice for someone, like pay for their coffee, and tell them it’s "for " me.

I got my own Mom a dash egg cooker! She keeps ruining pans (and our nerves) forgetting they are on the stove, so now she can make hard boiled eggs without the danger factor. We gave it to her last week and she was delighted.

I have those sunglasses – they’re great for the price. Even come with a little screwdriver and cleaning cloth, as well as a drawstring bag to keep them in. If you click thru the options, some are 2 for $15. Score!

Just looked at that NYT list (comes to my email) - fun stuff.

The legos flowers were cute and a good deal. I got something like these at Costco (about $36) for daughter’s birthday - she liked! LOL - teeny legos, said Age 18 and up. Also available on Amazon

I want flats and flats of annuals and help planting them, and time with my daughter.

My birthday is a week after Mother’s Day every year. I have tried to tell my kids I don’t need anything for either event, but they insist. I usually just tell them all I want for Mother’s Day are four hanging baskets for my two front porches. Other than that, I just love having them home for dinner with me if possible. I know when they are parents of their own, I might not have that luxury so I will enjoy it while I can.

One of mine already gave me her gift. We went to get our nails done together last Saturday. She arranged that we would be in the back area that just has two chairs. She also gave me a little pouch that is the Aloha brand.

My middle D is a gift giver and generally aims to match the gift to the person. H received a digital bird feeder that identifies birds (alas, doesn’t repel squirrels) for his retirement; I’m getting a curated mystery book-of-the-month for mine. Hoping the kids realize we don’t need/want “stuff” at this point in life, although we treasure anything they choose to send. Loving the “rude gnome” S 3D printed, which stands in front of the little flower painting younger D gave me.

One year when I had started running, my two kids gave me a gift card to a running store for Mother’s Day. Said to get a pair of good running shoes from both of them… left shoe from one kid, right from the other. I thought it was sweet. But I joked that they could have used same concept but saved money going for a bra gift card.

This year I pretty much got myself a Mother’s Day gift. Got a Sacagawea coin from the year of the kid’s birth and then a pendant holder for the coin. The fam’s job is to put the coin in the pendant holder. It’s particularly special because it has Sacagawea carrying a baby on her back, and I used to babywear a lot.

I got two Lego flower sets from my son for Christmas. We put the mixed bouquet together together while he was visiting. I haven’t put together the orchid one yet but maybe I’ll make that my Mothers Day activity. An area Lego group had a display at a festival I went to recently and one table was filled with flower and animal sets.

I’m always looking for inexpensive sunglasses. I may give them a try.

I received the Zojirushi insulated hot/cold bottle I ordered from the list - six hours later my coffee is still plenty hot! I’ve had luck getting vessels to keep water cold, less so to keep liquid hot.
