I am a junior in high school. We just finished the semester and I got a 4.55 GPA(all solid A’s and one A+). It is a 4.0 unweighted. I took one extra non weighted class because it was a required elective, which even though I got an A in it, it still brought be GPA down. Since I’m not taking that class this semester, if I get the same grades as I did, I would get a 4.66 for this semester and a 4.6 average for junior year. I am also at a college prep private school well known for it’s academic rigor, so it is very challenging to get those grades compared to how it would be at a public school.
My GPA for sophomore year(our school doesn’t calculate freshman grades into our overall GPA because we can’t take weighted classes then) was a 4.18, however, which is pretty low. It was a 3.8 unweighted. ;(
I took the ACT and got a 34 but I might taken again if my chances to get into schools on my list would be higher. I also got a 1470 on the PSAT, out of 1520, and the NMST score was a 224, which qualifies me as a national merit scholar based on California’s cutoff last year.
I also do many extracurriculars:
-Continued Varsity soccer since freshman year(starting center midfielder)
-Varsity cross country freshman year
-Continued Varsity lacrosse since sophomore year(starting low defender)
-Classical Piano since 4 years old(completed Advanced Musical Theory Test)
-Oil Painting (only sophomore at school to be allowed to take AP Studio art based on skill; I also plan on submitting an art supplement when I apply to colleges)
-Selected to be apart of children’s hospital committee at school which fundraises and brings awareness to local children’s hospital
-Honor Roll every year of high school so far
-Created own concussion awareness and baseline testing program that is spreading throughout San Diego County
Anyway, what do you think my chances are to get into the schools on my college list?
