I’m a senior in high school, bogged down with college and scholarship applications. I took the Dec. 8 ACT and received a 35. I applied to Northwestern, Washington University in St. Louis, and University of Miami to pursue journalism programs. To what extent will this score help my chances of acceptance?

It’ll help. You should apply to Mizzou for journalism –*they’ve got some very impressive programs: [Missouri School of Journalism: The Journalism Scholars and Walter Williams Scholars Programs](Walter Williams Awards – Missouri School of Journalism)

For one of them, you get an exclusive faculty mentor, which is pretty cool.

It will help it, but by no means single-handedly push you over the top.

At Mizzou, you would get some nice scholarships with that score.

I looked at Missou with a 34 and there didn’t seem to be anything above 5500 for non-residents. The good scholarships seemed to be all for residents.

It will help a lot if your previous score was a 25 or something haha. But at most, it’ll get you to the door - might not get you through the door though, it depends on your other stuff.

It will definitely help you a ton. what was your former score?

I’m not sure if you’re looking for suggestions, but you should applying to Syracuse. It’s journalism program would fit in nicely with the others on your list, and you could probably walk away with a nice scholarship.

if you look at the Mizzou scholarships for out of staters, it has a dollar value, PLUS they waive the out of state tuition fees.
