35 inch width or less Refrigerators

We have a Kitchenaid side by side 35 inch wide (36 does not work- granite counters) that is 24 years old. The ice maker/water dispenser cannot get filter replacement and the door is difficult to stay shut. Needless to say we need a new refrigerator.

I need a 35 inch wide or less side by side. Would like a water and ice dispenser. Standard depth is good, not need counter depth. Quiet would be nice. H is willing to consider freezer on the top and no water or ice dispenser but hates freezer on the bottom.

The consumer reports are like comparing apples to oranges. Limited help. They do seem to like LG and somewhat GE. The consumer satisfaction and reliability are awful across the board.

Open to ideas.

We have been through three refrigerators in a period of six months.
Unfortunately, we fell for the Home Depot discount plan where we got all our appliances, for our remodel, in January.

We were stuck with their limited inventory of counter depth refrigerators.
What we learned with this awful experience:
Don’t get a Frigidaire!

We ended up going to our original plan and buying a Maytag refrigerator- counter depth- from an actual appliance store that can order anything for you.
We were going to go to Bosch products because they can order the refrigerator portion and the freezer portion separately.

We were thinking of putting an 18 inch freezer in the garage, and keeping their wider refrigerator in the house. The appliance store would order that for us.

Fortunately, the appliance store found a Maytag counter depth that wasn’t carried at the Home Depot or Lowe’s. So we ordered that Maytag and have not had one problem since July. We got the extended warranty because I don’t trust appliances anymore. I don’t like that the counter depth refrigerators don’t hold as much food but It makes me recycle the food much faster. Good luck, this is not a fun task!

Home Depot will let you look for refrigerator that comes in the size that you need. You can filter on the website.

We have a 33” refrigerator, we got it from sears when they had home stores. Our local store was so nice, I bought all my appliances from them. So sad when they went out of business.

If you have a local appliance store, that’s what I recommend.

Did do the Home Depot filter. Also have Lowes and Best Buy here. No experience with local appliance store. Sears used to be great for options.

I have used AJ Madison’s website for years to search for specific appliance measurements, and then I buy locally. They have far more manufacturers than other websites and their search functionality is great.

You’ll start with dimensions and then with the results will be able to drill down with all the different options.

(I found my own fridge on here years ago, and then special ordered it via a local appliance store that could do so, along with a range that was not typical to stock specs. I wouldn’t have found them otherwise and they fit my space perfectly.)
