Hi everyone!
I currently am a high school Junior picking out my classes for senior year. I took Latin I as a sophomore and Honors Latin II as a Junior, and got an A all four semesters. I was planning on taking honors Latin III since I know it would make me more competitive and most schools recommend it. However, I don’t really enjoy Latin and the vice principal offered me to take a new elective called Academic Tutoring, which basically means I would be in the 9th grade study hall helping freshman with things like Freshman Bio and Algebra I, things of that nature. Would it look better to take Latin so I get three years of a foreign language or better to do the tutoring class instead? I’d also like to mention that this year I’m taking 3 AP and 1 honors classes, however next year I would only be taking one AP (AP Government and politics) and no honors classes without Latin. Thanks for your opinion!
Take the Latin and tutor outside of school as an extra curricular. A third year of an honors foreign language will most always trump the tutoring elective because of academic rigor.
^ I agree. I don’t see why the tutoring would be counted as a class. My D did tutoring during lunch hour at school as volunteering.
