4.0 Anxiety and Summer Classes

Hey everyone.

What can I do to put my mind at ease in the following situation?: I’ve only got two classes left to take to graduate: classes for my minor in computer science (which is required for my degree no matter what). I can take those last two classes during the summer. But I’m having worries about that: I’ve never taken a class during the summer before. And it’s taught by a TA for whom this is their first teaching experience, so there’s no prior record of their teaching style.

I’m also so incredibly close to graduating with a 4.0 since freshman year. It’d be sad to lose it right here at the end and it just gives me worries. But I’ve also calculated that I can get a B in just one class this summer and get Summa Cum Laude. Summa Cum Laude is my minimum goal.

I’m just so worried about losing my 4.0 here at the end that I’ve been trying to study ahead so that the summer session isn’t as hard. I keep having second thoughts about taking this class in the summer and thinking about just taking it in the fall instead postponing my graduation to December.

What might be the best way to ease my mind for the coming onslaught of class five days a week for almost five weeks?

Take the class, do your best, graduate. Graduation and completing the degree should be your ultimate goal.

First world problems. There is no.way to know if the TA is a tough grader or not. Take the class and graduate.

Things I would consider:

  1. Is this a programming class? Taking a 5 week programming class seems like iit would be very difficult.
  2. Talk to your advisor/head of comp sci dept if they think this is a good plan
  3. What would you be doing in the summer/fall if you did take the class now? What if you took it in the fall?
  4. Can you/your parents afford another semester?
