I go to one of the hardest schools in Texas. Students go to ivies and come back saying our school made Harvard or Yale easy for them.
My W GPA will be a 4.125 when I apply RD or EA, but as soon as our 1st semester grades are sent out I should have a 4.4 or 4.5 GPA. I was wondering how significant first semester senior grades are. My school is private and makes it very hard to take H/AP (you can’t make anything other than an A on every single test in a regular class (especially midterms & finals) to move up) classes/don’t offer nearly as many as most public schools. The highest GPA someone can get at my school is about a 4.6 (about 2 or 3 people get this and the ones that do don’t have great resumes), so while a 4.1 may sound low to someone from a school where a 5.0+ is possible, it’s pretty good at my school. But the point of this post is mainly to see the effect my senior grades will have on my chances of getting into Georgetown. Over the past few years, people from my school with GPAs ranging from 3.8 W+ have gotten in.
Act score: 34
Plan to major in political econ. or gov.
Resume is pretty great, not going to lie.
Tons of leadership experience, work experience, volunteer experience, super involved, high honors, president and founder of a few non-profits, love helping out in the community, all that jazz
I take H/AP classes in every subject except math.
One of the reasons my GPA is so low is because they didn’t put me in H classes freshman year even though I was highly recommended for them, however I moved up my sophomore year. Now in my junior year I take 3 H/AP classes. The most you can take is 4, however, most people who take H math make a B. You can take 5+ if you complain to them everyday until they let you.
