I’m going be a junior and need some help.
I’m taking these classes next year
Spanish 2
Ap physic
Ap psychology
Ap USA history
Pre calculus
Ap literature and compositions.
I want to be number one in class rank but am I going overload
The general consensus is that AP Psychology is easy, AP English Lit is moderately difficult, and APUSH is difficult. I’m not sure about AP Physics. Your schedule does seem manageable. However, everything varies by school. I would talk to people at your school that have already taken those classes and get their opinions.
Agreed.
Other than perhaps your parents, this won’t impress anyone, so I would not strive for this goal to the exclusion of anything else.
Honestly it probably more nerves getting to me. I wore do good, I always do. Also to skieurope my parents don’t give a crap. It’s all just for me and colleges
@riverotter99 ,
A lot of colleges are moving away from class rank and towards your personality. I would, if you feel like this will be an overload, take less AP classes and develop more skills through volunteering, extracurricular activities, etc. This is essential for your success-- I know for a fact that colleges would rather see 3 AP’s and dedication to an activity than 4 AP’s.
Don’t do it for colleges; they won’t give a crap, either. Half of US HS’s don’t rank, and the vast majority of HS’s with val/sal make those announcements after admissions decisions have been made. Being in the top 3% vs. the top 1% is not what will make a college accept or reject you.
@emeraldhearts39 is that any particular extracurricular activities colleges like to see. I already am short on time and like to make the best out of my time
That looks pretty manageable as long as you’re not also lacrosse captain, lead in the play, class president, and starting your own business, haha.
I’m taking 4 AP’s too (Physics, APUSH, Lang, Calc BC)
EC’s strictly should depend on what you are interested in. I love doing public speaking, so I participate in Mock Trial and Speech and Debate. However, many of my friends love Science Olympiad and Math Counts. It really depends on what you will give your all to. Colleges want to see that you are driven, passionate, and a hard worker. I would choose one or two EC’s and stick to them. I will be taking 3 AP’s next year along with volleyball, Mock Trial, Science Fair, and Speech and Debate. For some, this schedule might be totally simple, but for others, it may be too difficult. For me, it’s perfect. I am a person who loves a good challenge.
What are your interests? If you love science, try Science Fair or Science Olympiad. Math? Math Counts or Math Club. Sports? Mock Trial? Speech and Debate? Music? These things are all great for you and your resume and develop life skills. However, to see the full impact, you need to be DEDICATED, PASSIONATE and HARD-WORKING. Don’t jump from club to club-- that demonstrates no commitment or direction in life.
