4 days in Zion NP

What would you do to spend 4 days in Zion National Park? It seems like a small park. Is 4 days too many days to allocate to Zion?

I think so, unless you plan to do a lot of hiking just in Zion. Within just a few hours of Zion there are many other great places to see.

I’d go to Bryce, etc.

We did a day there in late December - and maybe could have done another - maybe.

Make sure to make a reservation for Angel’s Landing. It’s by lottery - we didn’t win (but still got charged for signing up for it). If you don’t get it, I don’t think you miss much - you still do 90% of the hike.

I’m sure in totality though - there’s probably a ton of trails - just depends on what you want to do - most do the short stuff but some want to spend a whole day or two on a 20 mile trail, so for those folks, it’s likely easier to spend a longer period of time.

Last time we were there we booked a canyoneering trip over near the western part of Zion. We all had a great time on that. Otherwise, I’m not sure I’d spend four days there. It’s a smaller National park and can be very very crowded with transportation limited to the shuttles. You’ll want to get going early in the mornings and stay in or just outside the main part of the park. We split our time between Zion and Bryce, Antelope canyon and lake Powell, and monument valley on that trip. I think we only had two days in Zion and felt like it was enough. There are some great hikes in Zion, but when we were there several trails were closed due to flooding and a rockfall, so we couldn’t do many of the big attractions.

I’d recommend asking on TripAdvisor but when we were there eons ago we did part of The Narrows, and Canyon Overlook and that took up a good bit of two days with kids. If I had more time I’d add in the Grotto and Emerald Pools. I was pretty nervous about Angel’s Landing and didn’t want to do that but it would take a while. Bryce is def worth seeing too.

Assuming you have a car, I would take a day trip to Bryce, and on one day if you are up for a longer hike I’d do either the West Rim trail or the Narrows. Both require a shuttle to the starting point and are a 14-16 mile trip. I’d still struggle to spend 4 days there. I’d prefer to spend 2 nights in Zion and 2 nights either in Bryce or at the Grand Canyon north rim and/or in Page (Antelope Canyon). Bryce is particularly nice to stay at the lodge because then you can get up for sunrise which is stunning (much better than sunset because the bowl faces east). If you want an amazing sunset then Cedar Breaks is better (west facing):
