I’m beginning to sketch out a spring break trip that will involve meeting up with college D in Strasbourg, France, and then heading down to Nice. It looks like we will have 3 or 4 days to make the trip to Nice, so I’m hoping some seasoned travelers will have some suggestions for us of places to visit, things to see, etc., along the way. We will be traveling by train. Many thanks!

Google maps shows me a driving route that includes Basel, Milan and Genoa - a city a day?

Thanks, stradmom. We’re going by train – perhaps I should apply your methodology and check out the cities along the train route for inspiration… ~O)

We did more or less the same thing this past June–Vienna to Montpellier–but by car. There are lots of gorgeous hill towns…would you stop somewhere and rent a car, or are you strictly going by train?

Is it safe to assume that Avignon is on your route? (Must look at a map!
)

Strictly by train, but it now looks like our schedule may get tightened up a bit. So much for meandering! @-)
