<p>The RPI is an interesting metric, but ours is without doubt dragged down by the goose egg dropped in Puerto Rico. Subtract those games and RPI shoots way up. SOS is also an interesting metric, but it doesn’t seem to correlate well with a team’s success during the season or its seeding in the tournament. Check out Sagarin’s calculations: </p>

<p>It’s interesting that UVA is 5-1 against Sagarin top 25 teams and 8-4 against Sagarin top 50 teams. Not bad.</p>

<p>I agree that a four seed was a bit of a surprise, but it wasn’t entirely out of the question. I also agree that the frontcourt is a huge weakness. In general, though, you don’t seem to be too familiar with UVA basketball. Who do you root for?</p>
