4 Years of Social studies/History

<p>So far throughout high school, I have taken three Social studies/History courses:

  1. Government and Economics
  2. US History
  3. Global Studies
    From what I’ve heard and seen, many colleges recommend taking 4 years of Social Studies/History courses. Because I am a junior this year, I need to decide my schedule for next year. Right now, I only have space for two more courses in my schedule and three courses I want to take: AP Physics C, AP Psychology (a fourth SS/Hist), and AP Latin V (a 4th year of language). I want to do a science/engineering major in college, so I do not want to sacrifice taking Physics C (which would be my 8th science class). Right now I am thinking about taking AP Latin V, so I was wondering if the SS/hist. recommendation is that important? Also, I am taking AP art history next year to satisfy my art requirement and because I’d find it more interesting that Art I or something. But I heard that colleges also view that as a SS/hist. course as well. Can I have that count as my 4th SS/hist., take latin and have that count as my 4th yr. of language, and take Phys C (all without having to take psych)?</p>

<p>High schools I know have global studies as a 2 year course so I don’t think you’re on the wrong track.</p>

<p>What you are doing seems very good to me. A fourth year of SS/History is probably not as important as a fourth year of language (because this shows persistence and dedication to mastering a difficult foreign language). I would recommend taking the Physics and Latin, and leaving the AP Art History to make up for the SS/History requirement. </p>
