4-yr-business school over risky 2-year Haas?

I was wondering if there was anyone who chose Berkeley over another great business school that had guaranteed them a 4-year business program/major. What made you take the risk to go into a school where you weren’t guaranteed a position in the Haas School of Business? And are 2-year-programs in any way a disadvantage?

Based on my friend’s accounts’:

some of them did’t “intend” to be rejected from haas when they apply as they made the assumption that they would be admitted. some of them had back up plans (econ, peis). some of them didn’t think they would get in anyways (this was only said after the fact that they were rejected, however).

Personally, I find the challenge of not getting into Haas as a motivation to work hard. In comparison, if I was going to Stern, I would be more relaxed because I already got in and be less inclined to work hard.

if its not wharton or sloan, haas will give you better connections and job ops
