40 Acres

A few questions about the 40 acres app.

“Please write five sentences describing yourself, your life, and your experiences that taken together form an accurate view of who you are. Be creative! Do not list what was provided in the extracurricular activites section.”

Can I use 5 quotes, or should the sentences be original?

What should I list on my resume? I covered basically all my activities in their respective sections. Is it ok to put SAT II Scores on it? I also have another SAT sitting, is that even worth listing?

I’ve attended 2 high schools, but theres only a place to put 1. Can that go on the resume, too? Also I’m going to mention it in the Intellectual Qualities essay.

I really only have 1 Community service activity, but it requires you to put 2. Can NHS count for this?

Can you tell me where you got the app? I’m interested in applying and I can answer your questions more effectively if I can see the app.

1) OF COURSE the sentences should be original and creative-- why would they want to read someone else’s words on YOUR application? This is a very competitive process.
2) put the BEST THINGS ABOUT YOU-- what’s most important to you? Don’t list clubs you were involved with for one semester. What defined your high school experience? What would you tell someone in an interview? Do you have fond memories of those activities? IF the score make you look good, yes. But don’t list multiple sittings of the SAT-- just your best one
3) your high school counselor should direct you best in this! List the current one, the one you will graduate from, but you’ll have to send 2 transcripts anyway so they should get it-- again double check with your counselor
4) NHS activities CAN count-- if for example you did a lot of hours on one project OR you did several projects for the same cause OR you did the same function/cause repeatedly

I was a well qualified applicant in general that got into Liberal Arts Honors, had a high GPA, and high ACT, was active in my high school community, had a lot of community service, and i did NOT get it. I do have a friend who did get it-- she got into Plan2 and had everything better than me  It’s extremely competitive!! Good luck y’all!
