According to Brad Weiner on this forum (see his thread entitled “Vanderbilt EDI Admissions Info…” on the next page) the acceptance rate is for A&S is 33.8%. And that’s Early Decision I.

The 28% rate mentioned above is for RD and the 33.8% rate is for ED I. The RD percentage will probably go lower this year because of the increase in applications.

Here are the numbers straight from the common data set on the Vandy website. 12911 applicates for 2007-2008, 4238 offered for a 33% accepted rate overall. A & S had 9684 applicants, 2759 offered at 29% accepted rate and 1011 enrolled. Eng. had 2084 applicants, 961 offered at 46% and 349 enrolled. Peabody had 832 applicants, 387 offered at 47% and 248 enrolled. Blair had 311 applicants, 131 offered at 42% and 65 enrolled. Hope that helps

this is dumb, but Iknow what the expression shoe in means, but I dont really understand how that means that something is automatic or easy. Where do they(the infamous expression maker uppers) get that?

No one should be surprised at this huge increase in applications… there’s so many reasons for the increase. The Commons is absolutely amazing! I’ve visited so many colleges and this is by far the nicest arrangement for freshmen I’ve ever seen The dorms are absolutely beautiul and the Commons dining center is really good as well. Everything is top of the line and brand new.
