Has anyone else read about the plan to increase enrollment by 5% across the board for the CSU’s and UC’s for 2019? If this is correct, GREAT news!!!
As you will see in this article, there is truth to an uptick in enrollment, but there will be additional financial needs from the Stage of California to fully implement the goals of the UC system.
They want to add an “additional 2,500 California undergraduates, 800 nonresident undergraduates and 1,000 graduate students in 2019-20.”
Interesting, you would think the state would want more out of state students to help with California’s budget issues.
Last year the UC schools implemented a cap for each UC school on the percentage of OOS students. So, the additional funding would presumably come from somewhere else.
The colleges themselves would love that. The parents who vote and paid taxes into the UC and CSU system, and whose kids were being rejected because admission slots were going to out-of-state students rather than their own kids, didn’t love that. The parents won.
