5 on AP exam vs SAT score ?

Hey,
I was wondering, will a 5 on both the AP English Lit and AP English Lang make up for a not-so perfect SAT reading/writing score? I'm talking about a score of 700 ish (give or take a few 10s) on the SAT reading. I know for top schools, a lot of the average applicants SAT scores are 750+.

I know SAT scores aren't everything but I know it does help to have a high score..

Haha you're not alone. I did the same. Some colleges do get put off by the lower SAT score. They like those SAT scores, and, from what I've seen, it seems to negate the benefit of the AP exam.

I do not believe getting a 5 "makes up" or offsets an SAT score that is a bit on the low side for the most selective schools. Top schools will want both top AP scores AND SAT scores. Most unhooked applicants who get into the most selective Ivy/Ivy equivalent schools are probably getting 760's and up. The bad news is that the competition is fierce for the most selective schools. The great news is that someone with your academic numbers (assuming you have a solid GPA and class rank/decile) can still get into some amazingly top-notch schools.

AP scores are not required to be reported for admission to most (if not all) coleges. SAT scores are required for most.
