Hi,
I’m practicing w/5 Steps. Is it just me or…are there really a lot of typos in the answer explanations?

Thanks.

Hi,
I’m practicing w/5 Steps. Is it just me or…are there really a lot of typos in the answer explanations?

Thanks.

I’m in AP Chemistry and I’m easily one of the worst students in the class, but Princeton Review is the way to go for that class. If not that, Barron’s.

Thanks. I’m using those but I’m running out of practice problems. My friend recommended me 5 Steps b/c his friend used it & got a 5. I don’t know. It’s best to know the info but some prep books confuse me. 5 Steps was good for bio tho.

PS: Best of luck. I’m also doing pretty badly in my AP Chem class.

I love PR for AP Chem.

I need to check out Barrons though.

Good luck!

Never used it, but heard 5-to-5 has a lot of typos.

Barrons has way too much information. Like they went so deep into nuclear chemistry when the AP test usually only has one or two questions on it.

PR is the best.

Thanks. I came across a question that asks for the colors of ionic compounds (based on cation)

& another question asks for the colors of solutions of cations

& the colors are different for cations in compounds & cations in solutions…

my chemistry teacher has pretty good credentials (she graded AP Exams back in the day and i’m sure she failed people left and right) and she says 5 steps to a 5 is really lousy

Kiefer, sometimes colors are different for the same cation, depends on the compound.
Like copper compounds/solutions can be blue or green.

Thanks everyone. Ok, I guess 5 Steps is lousy. There are some random questions, too, that probably won’t appear on the AP Exam.

Another question:/

Anyone else used Cliffs AP Chemistry? I’m using it but no one else seems to be…

Thanks.

bump plz???

5 steps to a 5 sucks for me, too

bump anyone?

some love 5 steps, some hate it…

According to my chem teacher, Cliff isn’t that good. But I personally have never read it.

I used 5 to 5 for physics, and it actually was helpful. Never used it for chem, though.

Thanks. I’m going a little crazy & doing a lot of practice problems. It seems like a lot of these prep materials aren’t really like the actual exam. I’m using Barron’s & Princeton Review, too, which are OK. Barron’s is not really like the actual exam, though.

I got so frustrated this morning with Cliffs that I threw it away. Literally.

i agree with paved and most others… my teacher and most people i’ve talked to recommend pr. i just bought the book and love it - simple, to the point, but has everything you need to know. good luck!
