dstark, try this: : p (without the space) = :p

Well, if they want truth in advertising, the most beautiful women ever would look a LOT more diverse, IMHO.
I think the title should match the fine print. :)

Beauty is very subjective, so this only reflect the person(s) who came up with the list.
If I were creating a list it would be far more diverse in multiple ways.

“Most of the women who I view as beautiful have full lips, hips, and an overall womanly figure. That takes the majority of the woman in that video out.”

Perhaps, I missed a word that you saw and I didn’t.

So very true, romani. I was only going to quote one line of your post, but felt the ENTIRETY needed to be seen again.

It’s saddening and disappointing that to this day there is still ONE standard a beauty. However, more and more women realize that the proclaimed “standard of beauty” does not need to be met by them. They are realizing that they are beautiful even if their own society doesn’t think so.

HImom brought up Asian actresses and it’s amazing* how Western ideals have affected them. Take a look on Instagram. The featured page frequently has Asians with died hair and makeup essentially trying to look European/American.

*read as: disappointing, disgusting

I agree with VeryHappy that a lot of them weren’t really beautiful, just had access to good hair and makeup artists.

Cybill Shepherd at her prime was beautiful.
I think Kate Middleton is too.

A celebrity who I always thought was butt-ugly was Renee Zellweger.

Well said, Niquii.

PG, I agree with you about Kate Middleton.

These are only head shots. To be truly beautiful, to me, you also have to have a good body.

BTW, especially in her early films, Ingrid Bergman usually wore NO make up. I know she didn’t in Gaslight. To me, she was astoundingly beautiful.

I agree Jonri. Ingrid Bergman…

Omg yes! Especially Aishwarya! My hubby is from India. We watch Bollywood movies quite often. Those woman are not beautiful they are stunning! What about Priyanka Chopra. I’m not surprised with that list though.

I don’t think Gong Li is anywhere near “beautiful”. She is an excellent actress, but not beautiful among other stars or starlets.

I find it interesting that all of the older movie stars have the same lacquered hairdo and makeup. Individuality in their publicity photos didn’t seem to start happening until recently. Marilyn Monroe’s photo has way too much makeup.

I think J Lo is beautiful. Ingrid Berman definitely. never saw the allure in Julia Roberts looks or acting. Catherin Zeta Jones is beautiful. love Jennifer Lawrence. Marilyn Monroe not beautiful. loved Kate Hepburn but not beautiful. Nicole Kidman is beautiful.

Emma Stone. Olivia wilde, Meaghan Fox, Mila Kunis

I find Julie Bowen of Modern Family super hot. I am watching the show right now. I know she is not a movie star. I dont care. :)

I agree wity downtoearth except when Marilyn Monroe was young she looked incredible. An example is when MM was in Love Happy, the Marx Brother movie. Ok…maybe not incredible. Memory gets distorted. She looked very very good.

When I walk my dog on the beach in my CA coastal community, I see better looking women than any of these movie stars. Just saying.

The articles misspelled the name of THE gorgeous Charlize. Tsk! Tsk! The White Queens Rebeca Ferguson looks like Ingrid Bergman. Jon Stewart thinks Jennifer Lawrence looks like a young Helen Mirren. Jennifer was fantastic in Catching Fire and American Hustle.
If it was my list, I would replace Helen Hunt with Ashley Judd and Julia Roberts with Brooke Shields.

I recently read that a big new market in plastic surgery has come into being. The client is an Asian woman getting her eyes changed to look more European. I find that very sad.

Women getting their lips plumped up to resemble women with naturally full lips don’t seem to understand that it never works. It just makes them look rather pathetic and strange. Of course, that’s just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions.

That list is not diverse enough. Too many of the same features. Where is Lena Horne, Vanessa Williams, Jennifer Lopez, Angela Bassett?

funny that milkandsugar suggests Horne and Williams to add diversity. Both of them have a good deal of European ancestry in their heritage and don’t have the facial features of those with a stronger African heritage like Ms. Bassett, or Gabrielle Union.
I would agree they are beauties, but I don’t agree those 2 would add much diversity.
