Jed Kolko in fivethirtyeight.com:
Small towns in Ohio today look demographically more like 1950s America than any place else does, but metro New Haven and Tampa, Florida, look most like America today.
[…]
So what place today does look like the America of the future? Las Vegas comes closest, with a racial and ethnic mix today that is very close to the projected national mix for 2060 and an age distribution today that’s not too far off from the national 2060 projection.
However, the article does not address whether (self-)segregation, as described in a previous article https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/the-most-diverse-cities-are-often-the-most-segregated/ , may increase or decrease.

Oh, you’re only talking about the people. No problem.
I thought you were talking about the appearance of the city. I was appalled when I read your thread title.
Based purely on my observations, if it does reflect the demographics there, I sure as heck hope we’re getting to be more accessible. There were LOTS of wheelchairs there (and those are just people with visible mobility limitations) and it was a really inaccessible town.
(Yes I know that this is based on race, but disability is a demographic too.)
I thought this was going to be about climate!
I wouldn’t know what the place looks like. The idea of a town full of drunks and gambling addicts has always turned me off.
I have to say that Las Vegas is a place that I have no desire whatever to visit.
Phew, I thought this was about climate and water loss too.

LOL, me too!
