5g Internet

Has anyone had experience with 5g home internet? Looks like Verizon and T-Mobile are available in my area. Do they work decent with smart TVs? Anything good or bad to say?

I switched to T-Mobile home internet as soon as it became available in my neighborhood. It was an improvement over my previous ISP in terms of speed. The only negative I have to say is inconsistent signal strength. I have been experiencing dropped internet connections more frequently in the past few months. It could be that my neighborhood is at the edge of the 5g signal range.

I’m not a fan of cellular based internet. At best, the maximum speed is only about 1/10 of what you normally get with a good fiber network. Usually they charge about the same price as traditional internet, but only offer a fraction of the speed. Cable/fiber internet is always superior because the signal is far more stable traveling in a wire than through the airwaves.

As far as smart TVs, it would be setup exactly the same as any other internet service. The only difference is that your internet will be slower.

We switched to T-Mobile 5g a few months ago. No issues. No complaints. We don’t have a super strong signal according to the data, but we don’t lose service and get download speeds of ~300 mbps. With Cox we lost service all the time and had mulch slower speeds for the same price. We were so happy to finally have another option. We would try fiber but it’s not available to us yet. Phoenix area.
Our only concern is that if T-Mobile has an outage we won’t have anything.

have had t-mobile for a couple of years. competitively priced and simple to use; just plug in to power source upstairs near a window (if applicable) and ur done. also, it’s truly mobile. can take it w u on vacation since there are no separate router/modem/ethernet cable hassles at all
