Would taking 6 AP classes be crazy for junior year?
- One would be online and two would be self studies
- I would have no study halls
- I am looking at 1 to 2 ECs

Would taking 6 AP classes be crazy for junior year?

We never have study halls. I don’t think the lack of that will be significant.

Okay let me reword that then

i would not take 6 APs. even though you may be able to handle it, you would be sacrificing sleep time(which is more important than you think, contrary to what many underclassmen believe)

yeah, I see your point, I barely get 7 hours right now so …
Anyways, other people’s suggestions/ opinions

Yes go for it! You know the amount of sleep you can work on. For me, I only need about 5hrs of sleep and I’m good. Find what works for you and do it. Remember you have to sacrifice something, and in this case it will be sleep but you can always make it up on the weekends and etc. Just make sure your grades at school does not suffer. Good Luck & God Bless!

Those that are saying no, remember everyone has different capabilities!

Thanks, I’ll take that into account when making my discussion especially the different capabilities part.

I had 6 APs at once, and have had friends who have taken even more. Only you can know whether or not you can handle it, but I can assure you that it is doable without major sacrifices of sleep.

If you didn’t mind telling me which AP classes were they?

Did 6 APs as a sophomore + 4 classes at UConn + Random other college courses, found it to be enjoyable and hurting my daily sleep total

How did you do college classes?

Just because you think you are special and can work on 5 hours of sleep, doesn’t mean you can. Every single person needs around eight hours of sleep a day. If you are planning on doing this, sacrifice other time consuming activities, not sleep. Don’t kid yourself thinking you are special, you are only human. This is definitely possible, but don’t be stupid doing it. Make it your priority.

I would say probably drop one (or both) of the self studies. Honestly, they aren’t that important for admissions purposes and contrary to popular belief, sleep is important. You clearly are going above and beyond in your school curriculum already, and your grades in those courses will be more important than the self studied ones. In addition, perhaps you could spend more time doing things with your ECs. You mentioned you only have 1 or 2. For some colleges, that may be seen as a weakness unless you have significant talents or capabilities in those ECs. Life is about more than the academics

@autoexec
I get at least 7 hrs of sleep per night and procrastinate massively, so it wouldn’t be too impossible

Took 8 Ap tests this year. BTW i am senior

I also took 8 AP tests this year. You are the your own best judge if you can handle it. I agree that you should not sacrifice EC’s for AP’s if you are looking at the ultra-selective colleges.

@skieurope

Exactly; we can talk a lot here, but the fact remains that only the OP can truly find out if he can do it

I think people are missing the fact that one is online and two are self-study… doesn’t sound too rigorous to me. @Swag87 do you mind sharing which APs you will be taking?
