I remember this family from an episode of “Wife Swap”. The father was a complete nut and the kids had never attended school. On the show, the kids were rude and obnoxious.

I wonder if this whole thing was a hoax. I hope the kid is found safe.

^Yes, I saw the episode and still remember it because the father was completely nuts. The kids had never spent a day in a school. The woman who was supposed to be his “wife” for the week was so weirded out that she left the home and stayed in a hotel. At least, that’s what I remember.

Based on the episode of “Wife Swap”, the father seemed out of control and very nutty. His Asian wife did everything for him. The kids never attended school.

hoax, prank, hopefully perpetrated by the 6 yr old with the help of his young brother.

ooo boy… just watched the “music” video. This video screams “Look at me, look at me!”
and what better way to have people look at me, get on national news, than… well, you get the picture.

search on: Wife Swap Heene boys Not Pussified music video

You would have hoped that being on wife swap they realized that they were endangering their children being storm chasers and re-evaluated their life as far as raising their children.

This is sadder by the moment

I am guessing that this might become an issue that the other boys may be removed by DYFS for reckless endangerment using wife swap footage to make their case, that the children have been placed in harms way.

CNN reports that the Heene family was involved in storm chasing. CNN says that they received a lot of i-reports from the father regarding storms and his theories about Mars.

Great, but let’s be honest to make Wife Swap you really have to be out there on the extreme parenting/family situation.

You or I would never make Wife Swap, that show exists for titillation.

I am betting if CC has already found out that they were on wife swap, the county social workers will review the footage, and most likely deem that they are not fit for a safe home environment. The more the news comes out, the worse it looks for the parents. I.E. it occurred mid-day, which means the kids should have been in school, even if she home schools, than it opens them up again to a parenting issue.

I believe that in the end of the day not only will they be dealing with the loss of a child, heartbreaking (and I do believe they love their children), but now the state will step in regarding their parenting abilities, and they may lose their other 2…for what? To live your life as a parent chasing storms? With every minute that passes and more information comes out, I am becoming angry at the parents. The child is 6 yrs old with an older brother out of school, where were the folks? How is an older brother, according to ABC would be 11, out of school? Maybe I was nervous nellie, but my children at that age were always in eye sight or ear shot.

Hiding in a box in the attic of the garage at home!
Sheriff says this is very typical when a kid finds out that lots of people are looking for him and he thinks he’s really done something wrong.

Why would the authorities have waited so long to do a thorough search of their house? I’m inclined to agree with musica that there’s something fishy about this whole story.

I would not have suspected anything fishy. Maybe I am just naive, but I think that since they are storm chasers and send frequent I-reports, they would have thought right away of calling a TV station to get a camera to track that balloon! I am just so happy that the boy is safe!
