The catch is one person has to be 55+ and you have it on autopay. The $60 includes taxes and fees and sounds pretty attractive to me. The ad is below. Any feedback? We are currently on T-Mobile and paying more for less. H and I are each 55+ (our two kids of course are younger).
I’m thinking of having me and one kiddo on one account and H and the other kiddo on the other account. We’d pay a total of $120 for 4 lines that way. Has anyone tried this yet?
No, but it sounds like a great deal.
Sounds like a good deal, particularly the unlimited data and text for your young people.
Is there a contract? Will the unlimited offer expire at the end of the term?
I’m not sure about the fine print but H and I are thinking of going down to get more information in the near future. We tried reaching out to S to see what he things before we commit but of course he’s enjoying his weekend.
I pay about $80/mo for TMobile for two lines like this. For years I paid much more and when I called to cancel they suddenly had a better deal. I would not be surprised if you could get 4 lines for under $100 if you ask them about this deal and then say you want something better.
We pay $137, inclusive of everything, for 5 lines with unlimited talk and text, and enough high speed data that none of us has come close to being throttled, with T-Mobile.
What about the coverage maps?
For our purposes, T-Mobile has fine coverage.
I was seriously thinking about switching to T-Mobile when a sweet bonus data promotion ran out with Verizon. T-Mobile’s coverage map looks okay in our area, but a few friends said they had some issues. It took 5 calls to Verizon to find someone who would work with me (word on the street is Verizon got rid of the customer retention reps).
Not meaning to highjack the thread, but my point is that wireless service is extremely competitive now. Look into other providers and then find someone at T-Mobile (may take a few calls) who can help construct the best plan for your family that makes you want to stay a customer. The promotions are a good place to start, but in my experience there are unadvertised incentives that the right rep can provide. As mentioned above, look at contracts, etc.
The Rep I just spoke with at T-Mobile over the phone was pretty worthless. He DID confirm that folks getting the 55+ lines would have that price of $60 for 2 lines “forever” with no caps on data, no reducing data speeds. He did say we had to go to store and present IDs to get the offer.
T-Mobile works ok for us and our kids, tho I believe Verizon MAY be slightly better coverage. Their prices were MUCH higher. Their service also doesn’t work for the phone H and D have (OnePlus android phones).
The OnePlus phones will only work on T-Mobile and AT&T. I started on AT&T over a decade ago but am not interested at the moment as their rates are too high.
My D’s have unlimited talk, text, and data on metro pcs for $30 per month all fees included. I think with this kind of competition, the charges of the major carriers will eventually come down.
Like @allyphoe above, we have 5 lines with unlimited talk, text and data for $138/month, including taxes and fees, on T-Mobile. I believe I can add lines for $10/month each.
A couple of years ago (I think it was 2 years) I switched from ATT wireless to T-mobile when they were offering 4 lines for $100/month. Each line gets 2 gigs of fast data and it slows down after you use the 2 gigs. I have never used 2. I think my son has once or twice. I have been very happy with the service, and at that price I keep my 2 sons on the plan. (One has offered to reimburse me, and I told him not to bother).
Our cellphone reception at home was very bad with ATT wireless. The best thing about T-mobile is they support wi-fi calling, so our cellphones automatically use the wireless internet in our home, and phone reception is great. I just bought myself a Motorola G5 plus (from Motorola website) for $220 - it’s a great phone.
Sounds good, we have 4 lines with all that for about 120 plus fees and I am just too lazy to go and get it for less. We just got back from Europe and that free roaming was terrific for maps and texting and even spotty data. We have that data stash thing and no one gets throttled as netflix and spotify don’t count as data, If I was 55 I would go for it.
At this point, can’t really see a downside to switching to this plan as it’s better than what I currently have with fees and taxes.
We have Verizon now after years with ATT. We travel a lot and good coverage is very important to us. Anyone in NY getting good coverage with T-Mobile, esp inside apts and office buildings?
I used to have T-Mobile and I loved it, but had to switch to Verizon when S went to college in Maine because T-Mobile coverage wasnt great then.
For two lines with limited data I’m paying $217 month (includes upgraded iPhones/mini IPad and IPad Air plus my home phone which has same phone # I’ve had for 26 years,) and price includes the state worker discount. H gets his phone through work.
I know I can get a cheaper plan when this contract is up but I know I’ll be too lazy to do that when time comes.
We recently signed up for something similar, unlimited plan, $30 out the door if you autpay, first autopay date coming up so I will see if it all works as promised. In surfing their site and name an individual account, we have 6 lines, I ran across kickback. Sign up all your lines for kickback and in the months where you use less than 2GB of your unlimited data, they will give each line below 2GB $10 credit
Regarding coverage, the only glitch we have had in 2 years with T Mobile is on a cross country trip, driving through the middle of the country there were many areas where the phone was using AT&T towers, fine, but the roaming data is limited to something like 50kb, something small enough that I was turning off cellular roaming for every app and was about to uninstall the stupid FB app that kept checking itself and popping up red notification circles despite being turned off cellular roaming, It was difficult to check important work stuff without random apps using all the data in one stop. If I had to do that trip again, I might be temped to buy a portable mi-fi for the trek!
