60 rounds were fired last night.

“The Ave can be a magnet for thugs from out of town but Roosevelt usually seems quieter than that.”

The thugs must have migrated towards Roosevelt because the Ave is being patrolled and watched a bit more nowadays.

The SUV victim was shot in the face and that my turn out to be domestic violence as well. It was reported that the shooter and the victim argued in the parking lot somewhat earlier - still developing, though.

On The Ave. vs Roosevelt - However, this was a middle aged white guy in a button down shirt who seemed to have chose his target with some intent.

A rise in crime in a community can often be tied to economic stability, level of education, and pride in the neighborhood. Something as simple as graffiti and broken windows/worn fences, abandoned cars all point to lack of community involvement. Reaching out to those who need a helping hand goes a long way.
I speak as someone who has worked in the streets of Oakland. Learn from my experiences, and those like me. It can be done. We call it working Block by Block.
I am hopeful the perpetrators will be caught.

One of the unnerving things about this spurt of violence is that it is not confined to an identifiable geographic area or social group. Not that there aren’t specific areas that could use help, but this seems more random and, as busdriver11 said, is happening in run of the mill pubic places.

I agree with busdriver that it isn’t related to the economy.
We need to have people who own guns, be responsible for what happens to them. I know too many people who have had weapons stolen from their homes & I suspect it wasnt some burglars lucky day, but the home being targeted for the weapons because the resident talked openly about owning the them.

This will sound very un-pc but i am sure there is a segment in the community very relieved the two suspects so far are white guys.
Now–a 3rd shooting reported south side–SPD shot killed the gun man from the Mercedes killing–good

I was visiting Seattle this past weekend. I was somewhat surprised by the reports of recent shootings.

I saw this interesting article in the Seattle Times about gunshot detection as I flew back home yesterday: [Software helps police pinpoint gunfire | Seattle Times Newspaper](http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/text/2018307147.html)

“This will sound very un-pc but i am sure there is a segment in the community very relieved the two suspects so far are white guys”

Well, I figure, who cares about pc. The facts are what matter. The reality is, most of the time when you hear about a shooting around here, it’s generally black men shooting at each other. But when you hear about a rampage from a crazy person, or a molester, you can bank on it generally being a middle aged white guy. And when it’s domestic violence, it’s men of all colors.

Good thing we have our killer, vicious dogs to keep everybody away.

It may be that the Roosevelt suspect & the car jacket are the same suspect.
word is that the suspect has shot himself in West Seattle.

“word is that the suspect has shot himself in West Seattle”

I always wish they would have just done that in the first place, if that was their intention. Why take everybody/anybody else down with you, I’ll never understand.

That’s what Dan Savage always says.

^^At first I thought you meant Michael Savage (I’m not a fan), then I googled Dan Savage, because I don’t know who he is. It says he’s a syndicated sex advice columnist. So funny! Apparently he must discuss other subjects too. Not that I couldn’t use some advice.

Dan is local & one of the editors at The Stranger, a weekly newspaper.
He kinda is on the side of TMI for me, but I have also seen him give very good advice- relationships with parents, sig others etc.
But he also reminds me of a 15 yr old kid, cause I have also seen him throw swear words around just for effect.

Dan also came up with the it gets better campaign.
http://www.itgetsbetter.org/</a></p>

For some reason the description of the shooter who stole the SUV hasn’t been confirmed, although it is very odd that both the Roosevelt shooter & the Town Hall shooter would head for West Seattle considering that it is such a royal PITA to get to, that nobody goes there unless they have to.

Okay, maybe I’ll have to read the Stranger when I see it now and then. I’ve always gotten immediately turned off by some of their ads, and the extreme side of their politics. But then again, the price is right, and they probably have some good articles. And that’s a great campaign, “I’ll speak up against hate and intolerance whenever I see it, at school and at work.” Though I think that motto would be better applied to everyone who is affected by hate and intolerance, not just specific groups of people.

Same shooter–now dead. Yeah.

^^ that and Google Santorum  (speaking of TMI)

I don’t read either the weekly or the stranger regularly, but the stranger is local and the weekly is owned by the Village Voice and runs backpage ads that exploit children.
[Mayors urge Backpage.com to check ages | Local News | The Seattle Times](http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2018161597_apuschildprostitution2ndldwritethru.html)
The stranger also sponsors the Capitol Hill block party that my Portland based daughter is coming up for.
But too much crazy for me.

I wouldn’t bring it in the house for sure. Once upon a time I picked up the weekly for F/SA night band venues but, alas, I am a fuddy-duddy homebody now.

Some sites are reporting that the gunman is still alive and that earlier reports of his death were wrong.
