I am dropping DS off with a friend this afternoon to check out the social side of USC. Will be free from 3-10, but don’t have a hotel in this area. A little bit late to go to a museum or such. Any ideas? One thing I wouldn’t mine doing, at least for part of the game, is watching my Bears beat the Packers, so a nice sports bar would be nice, but not for 7 hours. Thanks ahead of time for any ideas.

One option (since you did mention museums). Head out to Pasadena, go to the PMCA – [Pasadena Museum of California Art in Los Angeles](http://www.pmcaonline.org) to see the fantastic Edgar Payne show. (museum open till 7 PM) and 3/4 of a mile down the street is the Yardhouse with plenty of screens for the game.

Or you could just walk around Old Town Pasadena. www.oldpasadena.org

Try to stay safe.

MOCA – the Museum of Contemporary Art – is open until 8 p.m. on Thursdays. There are two branches downtown – the main branch on Grand Avenue (3 miles from USC) and the Geffen Contemporary in Little Tokyo (5 miles from USC). If you go to the Geffen, you could have dinner afterward at the Spice Table, which is walking distance (if you can get reservations). It’s a super interesting L.A. restaurant.

You could go to MOCA then watch the game in DTLA. LA Brewing Company is a great bar, if you like beer.

You could also catch the game at LA Live, at the Yardhouse or ESPNZone. I prefer the Yardhouse, again better beer.

The nice thing about Downtown LA, is it is accessible by train. You can park by USC, and take the Expo Line into Downtown and the Red Line to MOCA.

Oops, I had missed the part about the game. Trojanchick’s suggestion is a good one: Go to MOCA on Grand, then watch the game at the LA Live complex (which the entertainment district around the Staples Center, and about a mile or two from USC). Also, just down the street from MOCA is the Disney Concert Hall, designed by Frank Gehry. It’s definitely worth a visit to see the architecture, if you haven’t seen it already.
